1 1/2 lb. Strong flour
2 5ml spoons salt
1 oz butter or olive oil
1 sachet McDougalls fast action dried yeast
3/4 pint warm water
1 tsp sugar
2 oz grated cheddar cheese
1 med chopped onion
Method
- Sieve flour, salt and yeast together.
- Add in water and oil mixing to a smooth dough.
- Knead on a smooth surface for 10 minutes until
smooth.
- Roll out to a rectangular shape to 1/2 inch
thick.
- Brush the surface with water
- Sprinkle the surface with the cheese and onion.
- Roll the bread up to enclose the cheese and
onion.
- Place onto a baking sheet, cover with a damp cloth
and allow to prove until double in size.
- Brush with beaten egg and bake in a hot oven for 30
mins until golden.
- When tapped on the bottom, the loaf will sound hollow
when fully cooked.
